I finished appliquéing one block (left) and started another (right).
As I work on these I find it odd that they appeal to me. 1940’s quilt blocks don’t seem like a fit with the fabric painting or the pictorial quilts I enjoy so much.
My love affair with antique fabric started purely by accident. When I went to the first Quilt Festival in Chicago several years ago, a friend suggested I buy myself something special that I wouldn’t normally buy. I bought a piece of aqua feedsack material with pink and white print. I remember her surprise when I told her. Then I discovered Ebay, and the rest was history.
The Dresden plate is my favorite classic quilt pattern. If I ever finish this set, I’ve got a few more waiting in the wings.
