Quilt University Class With Lyric Kinard

I can’t remember whether or not I mentioned signing up for a class at Quilt University.  I signed up, and two days before the class started all hell broke loose at work.  Something comes up every time I sign up for a QU class.  I give.  This is the last one I’m taking for a long time.

I’m still working through lesson one, while the class is supposed to be on lesson four.  If I get to lesson three before the class closes, I’ll be doing good.

The class is Artist’s Toolbox and covers basic art principles for quilters.  I’ll spare you my beginner sketches, but I will share the cloth exercises.

This first cloth exercise explored texture.  The rules were monochromatic fabrics and a time limit of 30 minutes.  I stuck to the rules and didn’t take the exercise too serious.  I had fun, and I’m excited to move on to the next cloth exercise.

I feel your pain. I had to have major surgery two weeks after the only one of these classes that I have taken. I tried to get an extension or something. No dice. I never even looked at another one to take. I did work through a couple more of the exercises but without a “teacher” or access to upload your stuff and see other stuff it was kind of a bust.

Life always gets in the way – but really – LIFE is what is important. Enjoy the bits where you get to play! Wonderful work. Often at QU if an emergency happens the dean will let you in to the next session. There are several weeks open after the lessons end for catch-up time.
