The Trouble With Nubs

After more thread breaks than any one small quilt should cause, the checkerboard top is quilted.

I used donated fabric for the back that had little nubs in it. Free motion quilting and little nubs do not a pleasant experience make. I may only use that fabric for backing again if I know I’m doing straight-line quilting.
I used a couple different quilting designs, one in the middle and another on both sides. I like the idea of that, and I see plenty of other people doing it. I may never quilt one design on a top again.
Now if I can get this thing bound today I’ll have a bust tomorrow.
