Books for the Road

It turned into another hectic mess of a week.  That combined with oppressive heat did not a productive week make.  I didn’t use or buy any fabric this week.

I have some time off now, so if I don’t sew it’s my own fault.

If I can’t do, I like to at least look at doing.  I checked a few books out of the library to get some new ideas.

The first is Creative Textile Art by Creative Publishing International.  The book is filled with techniques but no projects.  It contains an inspiration gallery, which is a section of beautifully photographed projects created by well-known fiber artists.

The next is Dancing With Thread by Ann Fahl.  This book is a great guide for teaching yourself free-motion quilting.  The projects increase in complexity, both in the construction and quilting.  Fahl includes many examples of free-motion quilting motifs and shows how she used them in projects.  The photographs show the quilting in detail and the entire project.   I always like to see both.

So that’s what I’ll be doing this week.  To see all the other stash reports, visit Patchwork Times.

Take time to enjoy Dancing With Thread by Ann Fahl and have some fun practicing her techniques. I was lucky enough to take a class from her. She was a lot of fun and very informative.

I have Ann Fahl’s book, too – lots of fun ideas. She spoke to our guild a few years ago – what fun!

I got a few quilting books at the library too – hope you enjoy reading and your time off, no matter how you choose to spend it!
