It’s the beginning of a long holiday weekend here in the U.S. with beautiful weather forecast. That’s enough to get me doing the happy dance right there.
Time for the July Short List. I’m removing the block of the month category for now. I believe it will reappear later this year, but I needed a break from all that fussy point matching. I need some faster finishes to use up all the fabric I’ve bought!
The Short List is something old (UFO), something new, a scrap project, a handwork project and Creative Play. I started using this system in November 2014 to keep myself focused and finishing projects. I adjust the categories as needed to add new interests and drop things that no longer appeal.
Something Old: The applique raffle block quilt. I won this block and numerous others in a guild raffle many years ago. All four borders are half pieced. It looks like a mess, but it’s the only way I can keep track of what to sew where.
Something New: I need to make a bib as a baby gift. I won’t say more about it, even though I don’t believe mom reads blogs. I actually finished this today. It’s reversible. Pattern by nanaCompany.
Something Else New: I’m making the Fat Quarter Bag from the Fat Quarter Quilts book I bought a couple weeks ago. I chose Kaffe Fassett fabrics and pressed them. I will start this either tonight or tomorrow.
Creative Play: I didn’t fit any creative play last month. I’ll have to do double duty in July.
Scrap Project: I am making the Market Bag by Fig Tree. I didn’t get any work done on the cat blocks last month. Again, don’t want all my time committed to a few large projects. This bag is smaller than the Fat Quarter Bag and will be my go to bag for guild meetings unless I’m showing a bed sized quilt.
Having a Short List project done when I post the list is definitely a first and yet another reason to celebrate. I’m linking to Whoop Whoop Friday.
