August Short List

Hard to believe another month has passed. Life moves at lightening speed these days, much faster than I like.

I started July strong by finishing two projects the first few days and then never finished another thing. I made progress on three others – the bear blocks, the market bag and the raffle block quilt. Forward movement is better than nothing.

The Short List is something old (UFO), something new, a scrap project, a handwork project and Creative Play. I started using this system in November 2014 to keep myself focused. I adjust the categories as needed to add new interests and drop things that no longer appeal.

Something Old: The applique raffle block quilt. I won this block and numerous others in a guild raffle many years ago. It’s basted and ready to quilt.

raffle-block-topSomething New: I finished both new projects on the July list, and I’m on the fence about what project to add. I have it narrowed to another charity quilt or a project that stretches me.

Handwork Project: I will continue with the embroidered bear blocks. My goal is two blocks for August. I finished two blocks in July, leaving me with four to stitch.

Creative Play: I didn’t fit any creative play in the last two months. I really want to get back in the habit, so extra effort here this month.

Scrap Project: I am making the Market Bag by Fig Tree. I pieced the front and back panels and chose all the other fabrics.

market-mock-upI also made ten blocks for the 360 Block Challenge. I definitely won’t be doing that challenge again in 2017.

I’m hoping for a productive August so I have lots of room for new projects on the September list.
