I can hardly believe that summer is winding down and fall is just around the corner. Fall is my favorite season, with all the crisp days and vibrant colors. I can’t wait to make applesauce from fresh apples.
It’s also time for another Short List. Last month I finished a UFO, two bear blocks and fit in a couple different creative play projects. Not bad for an extremely busy month.
The Short List is something old (UFO), something new, a scrap project, a handwork project and Creative Play. I started using this system in November 2014 to keep myself focused. I adjust the categories as needed to add new interests and drop things that no longer appeal.
Something Old: I decided to work on what I call the Color Study. It started as a monochromatic challenge for my Art Quilt Group. I drew yellow as my color and hated what I made. Then the group decided to do a triadic color challenge and I thought I might salvage this project. I’m not sure if the pink grass gets to stay or not. There is a plan, but it keeps changing.
Something New: I’m moving the Market Bag to this category.
Scrap Project: The free form log cabin blocks. The blocks will be sewn together, quilted and bound, and then I’m dyeing the entire piece.
Handwork: Only two more bear blocks to go. I finished embroidering the other 10.
Creative Play: No specific plans here. I’m sure something will come along and spark my interest.
I have big hopes that my week of vacation this month will contribute to some finishes. I’d sure like to be carrying that bag.
