Surface Design Round Robin #3

I’m making the most of the long holiday weekend by fitting in sewing time whenever I can.
Here’s what the piece looked like when I got it.
sdrr3Here’s what it looks like now.
sdrr3 finishedI added the daisies in the corners and embroidered green over the centers to make them stand out. The daisies were cut from a piece of vintage trim.
Here’s a close up of the embroidery.
sdrr3 close upI stitched over the center in one direction, and then stitched from the opposite direction, weaving the thread through the first stitches to create a crosshatch design.
It gets harder as the rounds move forward because the space is more limited. I had other ideas, but didn’t want to cover most of the remaining background. That would make it too hard for whoever got it near the end.
I’m linking to Whoop Whoop Friday.

A very simple, but effective addition. Hope you have more time for stitching along with the family time this holiday season.

Nice touch Donna. They give the piece an additional focal point and draw in the lighter background behind the flowers.
