A Change In Perspective

Thanks to the holiday I made some progress on the poppy quilt.

First I had to get out of my own way. I stared looking at the quilt as a learning exercise, a place to try out new things. Then I took paint to it.

I planned to add paint to the flowers, then changed my mind, and then changed it back. I’m sorry I didn’t do it from the start, but not sorry enough to rip out the stitching.

Here’s a painted flower.

And here’s one that wasn’t.

I think the paint helps the fabrics blend together.

I’m over half way through the applique now and feeling better about finishing this quilt.

I like the paint…it definitely adds interest!

The paint does seem to make things flow together better. Could you paint with thread on the unpainted flower to get a bit of petal definition?
