Creating Collages Class

I’m back from the show and had a great time.
I started on Wednesday with a Trish Stuart class, Creating Collages. It was a great class and she did a really good job of explaining the mechanics of collage. I learned a lot in a short time and finished my collage pear. She was the most positive, supportive teacher I’ve ever had.
I didn’t have the Kaffe Fassett fabric I needed for the class and decided to take what I had rather than buy something else. It felt more relevant to learn the technique using my fabrics rather than limit myself to something I wouldn’t normally buy.
Thus the Tiger Pear was born.
tiger pearI need to trim away the fusible and mount it on a background. After that I’ll stitch it down.
If you ever get the chance to take a class with Trish, I highly recommend it. I was sorry I didn’t take her thread painting class the next day. Her samples for that class were so bright and fun that it would have been impossible not to have a good time.
If you live close to Grand Rapids, Michigan, you still have a chance to see the show tomorrow. It was well worth it.

That looks really great – what an interesting class. I’m glad you showed the fabric which you used – I’d never have guessed!

Sounds like an interesting class. I like your tiger pear. It definitely makes sense to take the fabrics you have to work with in class.
