I’ve Been Thinking…….

When I don’t get much creative time, I spend lots of time thinking about what I’ll do when I have it again. Ideas wander through my mind about projects, techniques and experiments. It’s a good thing and a bad thing all rolled into one. I love hanging out with ideas and have a hard time resisting new projects.
Here’s some of what I’ve been thinking about.
How my Art Quilt Group had a dye day (that I was unable to attend) and dyed cheesecloth and yarn in with their fabric. This created coordinating sets.
How I’ve never used cheesecloth much in my quilts.
How much fun it would be to dye cotton floss and pearl cotton and why I’ve never considered it before.
If I should ask for new dyes for Christmas.
What my theme will be for 2019. This year was about finishing UFOs. I like that the count decreased, but I’d like to do something else.
How I want to get back to working on the floral runner.
How the charity quilt pile is calling my name.
About trying my hand at watercolors.
And drawing.
About adding creative play days to the monthly Short List.
How I’ve done that before and not followed through.
Why that is.
I could go on for days, but you get the idea.
I’ve been thinking about the creative play dates a lot lately, along with the 2019 theme. I like to live with an idea for a while and see how it feels. Mostly it feels like I need to get back in the sewing room before I add a bunch of things to my idea journal.

sounds like you like to dye things. 🙂
I like to think about things too, but mostly it is how I’m going to finish a UFO and if I’ll ever get down to below 100 UFOs.
I feel like I should do something besides UFOs next year, but then I have all these things waiting for me.
Maybe I should use a pattern that I have and not done yet. I have lots of patterns. I’m trying to figure out what I want to work on in 2019 too.

I miss play dates, too. Work is a necessary evil, but it does force one to look at priorities, and try to make good use of one’s time. I am also considering 2019. I have concentrated on UFOs this year, and mixed in a few new projects. That worked well for me, so may do the same. However, I had no play dates. It isn’t likely to happen so long as I keep my job. 😦

It’s fun to play with new ideas and make plans. I like to live with my ideas for a bit before I commit. Sounds like you’ve got a good start on where you want to spend your valuable creative time next year.
