OMG April Finish

I finished Waiting For Spring last night. I almost forgot it was my OMG for April.
WFS finishedI’m glad I tried the improv process because I learned a lot by working outside my comfort zone. It was a good lesson in taking the next step and letting it lead to the step after that, and so on. Perhaps the experience will help me work on other projects and finish them.
Now that I’ve made one quilt like that, I don’t feel the need to make another one anytime soon. I expect to play with the technique again someday but not right now.
The experience reinforced the importance of taking time for creative play. It’s so easy to get caught up in deadlines and group projects. Sometimes it’s good to take a step back from it all.
Here’s a close up that shows some of the beading and the couched yarn.
wfs detailThe yarn made a big difference. It came from a yarn swap we did in my Art Quilt Group.
I’m linking up with Elm Street Quilts.

Good for you to stretch yourself and learn new things…and whether you like the new techniques or not. 🙂

Very nice! Improv is fun and a bit scary all at the same time! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congrats on your finish!

Yay! I have discovered that my UFO’s generally are waiting for me to learn some new skill or aquire some new thing so I can finish them to my liking. Once that happens they get finished up pretty quickly. But I have to remember to step back and listen to what the piece is telling me. The hardest part!
