Something Extra

This week is all about the Holly Runner. Here’s a close up of the decorative stitching on the edge of the framing strips.
HR stitchingThe strips are fused to the top. The background squares are pieced. A zigzag stitch secured the strips to the background, and then a decorative stitch was added using a different color thread.
The pattern is by Paulette Peters and appeared in an old issue of Quilt It For Christmas magazine. I picked up the magazine at the thrift a few years ago.
Each place the strips cross there will be holly leaves and berries.
I started the project early to make sure I had it done by Thanksgiving. So far, so good.

That’s a great way to attach the strips. I look forward to seeing the corner pieces, too. Sometimes the old things are the best things!
